What a nice tribute to such a beautiful actress. I was only 12 when she died, but I treasured her movies and acting attributes. Growing up, it was rumored that she committed suicide because of her interracial marriage. In any event, I'm sure over the p st 30 years, her presence on the silver and tv screen has been missed. Thanks for the website in her memory.

Great site! Being only in 7th grade in 1970,I don't recall seeing much of Ms. Stevens's work.Watching Hang'um High right now, she's in the country at the barn with Clint. Anyway,,,for as many times as I've seen this movie, twice as many times I've asked people who w s that beautiful blond actress that nursed Clint back to health? No one ever could figure it out. Finally read the credit about 5 years ago.(horsewhipping line starts to the left)I will be renting every movie Inger has been in, posted on this site.(21/2yr old,Wow!) Reading some other notes: an idea might be, is to get Mister's Eastwood and Reynolds-etc. to get some wheels in motion and re-release some of Ms. Stevens's work. This site has been entered in my favs !!! P'nL to all, A

It was programs such as "The Farmers Daughter" which provided me with such pleasurable escapism from my otherwise traumatic childhood. And I'm most gratefull to Inger Stevens for her part in that. I enjoyed her so much in her subsequent projects and I was dumbstruck by her loss. God willing,.. I might see her again in some other afterlife.

Without a doubt, I believe Inger's most memorable role was the one she played in Firecreek. She is a lonely figure who ultimately gathers courage in the face of a chance to lose her loneliness, and in the process learns something about herself that she ha never known. In the end, her actions prove her to be the rarest of heroes -- one who does what is morally right, for no other reason than that it is morally right. In that role, Inger was indeed a tragic figure, and yet she, in some sense, prevailed in he end. Perhaps Inger Stevens' life was like that, as well.

I loved finding your website--I was a big fan of the Farmer's Daughter at a very formative time in my life and it was good to see a sitcom with strong women characters who got to win sometimes. I was sorry when the series came to a close--even tho the pl ts got kind of silly the last year. I had the pleasure of meeting William Windom at a one-man Thurber show in Kansas City held in the Folly theatre where Inger Stevens danced very early in her life (TOO early)--he was reminiscing about her life that even ng.

Ms Stevens story is one of survival. I share her account of suviving the crash of a burning aircraft with others, as a lesson that we can always survive. It just takes the will to live. The possibility of a "survivor's guilt"? I don't think so. With that, I too wonder why suicide? No suicide note? That is strange. Any info on her former husband, where he is, etc., and where are the court documents that allowed him to claim and administer the estate.

I was perusing this page and am surprised at how little info is available on this major star. There is no one who grew up in the 50's and 60's that did not know who she was and like another favorite of mine, Jean Seberg, met with a tragic and questionable end. I worked with a woman who was friends with Inger's secretary. This secretary confiscated all of Inger's letters from Bing Crosby and at one time, tried to sell them to the Crosby family but they weren't interested. I understand that Bing and Inger ha an affair and he wanted to marry her but could not because she was not Catholic and had been divorced. The met on a movie "Man On Fire" in 1957. I vaguely recall the newspaper articles in the aftermath of her death but it seemed to me there was quite a b t of fighting among those left behind as to the disposal of her effects. I remember one article stated that someone's eyes were gouged out in a fight at Inger's home. Very sad end for such a beautiful and talented woman. I'm glad to see, though, that someone cared enough to have this page in her memory.

Dear Fenelon-I think it is wonderful what you're doing for Inger, and her memory. Very touching, indeed. I have not seen "The Farmer's Daughter" since the '60s, when I was a little boy, but remember it being my favourite show. I've always loved the hitch- iker episode of the zone, but did not make the connection until years later. Our family is of Scandinavian descent, so we always watched "TFD". As a five year old boy, I was in awe, and in love with her. My mother always told me that I would marry a girl ike her when I grow up. But, of course, there was only one Inger.I am a musician in the Seattle area, and play Indian Sitar, dulcimer, and 12 string guitar. I always kept her in my subconsience, and re-remembered her a short time ago. My God-Those beautif l, sad, approachable eyes. Incidentally, I'm 38, and have never been married.

Inger was living in Kansas City, Mo before her Hollywood life?..Seems like that has been in some biographies read a long time ago.. also any mention of her relationship with Bing Crosby.. she was crushed when he broke off with her.. and I thought she passed away on May1st 1970 which is the date of Bing's Birthday..Is there a book available to urchase.. the Farmer's Daughter Remembered..by William Patterson..?.. When I lived in Ca I met William Windon he was very pleasant and did readings at the Van Nuys library during a special event Night of a Thousand Stars..I have loved t e farmers Daughter TV series.. it brought happiness to me..I thought it was well done..I wonder if it is on in syndication anywhere? Also wonder if I can receive the Entertainment network to watch the show in August about Inger..Thank you for our web site !..SKelley

(I'm only being half-joking here)...When I think of the images of women in my formative years, the images that were to later "ruin my life", I have to credit the "Stevens Tiumvirate" for doing that job most completely, to whit... INGER, STELLA & CONNIE !!! These are/were all drop dead gorgeous women, all blondes, all with the same surname...Only in my recent years have I realized the impact they made on my "taste" in what is attractive, physically in a female...I could be a a crowd of thousands, but I can s ot that "ringer" and make a fool of myself every time, cause' I'll go for her...As a young soldier stationed in Europe back in the 70's, I did my share of "hunting" for that image...I remain unmarried to this day for lack of those who could "measure up".. But the final postscript to this message should put into context why this has been a "problem" for me over the years...I'm a "Yankee-Doodle-Dandy" all American guy, stay in good physical condition (despite my vices/;-)...relatively successful, a professio al...Only one *major* obstacle to finding my "stevens" type of girl...I happen to be a *Black* guy!...Oh well....GREAT TRIBUTE SITE here!!!...YOur hard work IS appreciated, have no doubts!!!

Your web page in memory of Inger Stevens is very good! As a 12-year old in 1963, I loved to watch "The Farmer's Daughter". I loved Katy and Congressman Morely!! Even today when I see him on the screen, I have a warm feeling - like seeing an old friend. I wish "Katy" was still around!! Several years ago CBN (now FoxFam) showed the reruns of "The Farmer's Daughter" and I was able to tape most of the programs. I get them out and watch them over again from time to time. I wonder with some satellite channels(like TVLand, etc.)doing reruns of old shows what the chances are of "The Farmer's Daughter" being brought back?

I've been a fan of Ms Stevens for as long as I can remember. I recall sitting in front of the TV to watch The Farmer's Daughter every week... Your site is a wonderful tribute to her as an actress and as a person. She may be gone, but thru your site and in the hearts of her fans, she is anything but forgotten.

I'm surprised that I'm the only person to visit Inger Stevens' web page (according to your counter) so far. I don't know too much about Miss Stevens except I enjoy the performances I've seen of her in a couple of the Twilight Zone episodes: "The Hitch- hiker" and "The Lateness of the Hour". She seems to have been a very emotional-high energy actress cap- able of making the viewer forget they're watching an "actress" - she was completely believable. What a talent. Oh, by the way, there is one too many 's' in the word "promising" in the description under her photograph. Thanks for the "Inger Stevens" web page!

Thanks for a fitting website. I just watched "A Guide for the Married Man" on Encore. I was once again reminded what a beautiful woman she was. She embodied beauty, glamour, sensitivity and depth on screen. I was just 13 years old when she died, but I'll ever forget her. I hope the Good Lord has helped her find the inner peace she so deserved. Denny Zucconi Greensburg, Pa

In addition to all her aforementioned theatrical credits, Inger was truly stunning as "Emily Pennington" on a 1959 tv episode of "Bonanza", entitled "The Newcomers". Her portrayal of a terminally ill young woman suffering from tuberculosis, tugs at all th heart strings. Her portrayal of one so gentle, yet so profoundly courageous by helping others around her accept her fate made for a wonderful character. It is a tribute to Inger's personality, bringing all of her own sensitivities to "Emily" and thereby reating another memorable character for which she will be remembered. Thanks for your website!

I am a big fan of "The Twilight Zone" and have always enjoyed the two episodes starring Inger Stevens. It is saddening that someone of her stature and someone with such natural talent for dramatic roles left us at such an early age. It's gratifying to know that she hasn't been forgotten.

Nice Start. Correct the spelling errors. Mention that she was in two outstanding episodes of the Twilight Zone. I also liked her work in the very twisty TV movie the Borgia Stick which was as I recall one of the first two or three 'made for TV' movies nd thus has a sort historical significance.

Am a baby boomer, and remember Miss Stevens like a lot of my generation. It just goes to show you that being successful isn't always what makes you happy. Sometimes people get into a life style that is not going to make them happy, even though they will b very successful in their chosen field. I think she would have had a long a wonderful career, what a waste.

I enjoyed your biography of Inger Stevens. Thank you for putting in on the internet. I was a big fan. I'm a 43 year old man now, but was just a kid when the Farmers Daughter was on TV. I thought she was a beautiful young girl and could not understand why someone like her would take her own life. Only God knows the torment she must have felt. I sincerely hope Inger has found peace in heaven.

Great site! I came across it due to my interest in George Maharis, star of "Route 66" (she made two guest appearances on that show). She was also set to co-star with him on his 1970 series, "The Most Deadly Game." I've heard George on talk shows speak ery lovingly of her -- she must have been a class act.
